So I watched this video from Dr. Art Bowler on how to beat the Monday Morning Blues.
Last week, when I went to work I was overly "chipper" said one of my colleagues. "You shouldn't be that happy on a Monday." I couldn't tell you why I was so happy on a Monday morning in the office no less but I was.
Some people have this philosophy that if you're at the bottom the only way to go is up. Sorry to be the one to inform the rest of world of this little known fact - mathematicians won't bored when they came up with the negative numbers scale. My philosophy is if your start you week at zero, things could either go positive or negative. So I prefer to start my week somewhere in the high numbers, maybe even at 100%, so that if the week, which it almost always does, heads in the negative direction, then at least I'd still be operating in a positive realm.
As Dr. Bowler said, no one looks forward to Monday morning and as he suggested you should have a Great Sunday. I make sure I have a great weekend, so that it spills over into Monday morning.
My Sunday isn't always the same but there are many things that I do that have made my Monday morning experience easier to handle.
I always sleep in late on a Sunday; I do everything on my own schedule, my own time that even includes feeding my dogs. And they have become accustomed to me not feeding at the usual 6 am on a Sunday. But then they rejoice because I spend at least an hour playing with them, rain or shine. Sometimes I'd catch a movie, either in the theatre or on the internet :) or I just put in an old favourite and relax in the living room. An absolute MUST is Army Wives at 10pm every Sunday evening.
I make sure all my clothes are ironed for the week - so I don't have to think about waking up earlier each morning to iron clothes for work, all my work shoes are always in the car and my keys always in my handbag. This takes the guess work out of the things that usually upset your peaceful morning during the week.
On Sundays I take time for myself, spiritually, mentally and physically so that when Monday rolls around it doesn't feel like a regular Monday. Because of this new "Sunday Routine" there have been times when I forget that the next day is Monday, the first day of the work week. With this approach to my Sundays , my Mondays become another day to look forward to, another day that I can seize and do something spectacular with.
Monday Mornings don't have to be so bad.
