What makes you come alive?

My brother asked me this question a few months ago, "What is the one thing that you know you ABSOLUTELY love to do?" and without any hesitation I said, "to write!"

Now obviously by the posts dates on this blog you may think otherwise, but then he asked the question again but in another way a few months later. "What is the one thing you would do without receiving any pay, as in a salary?" and again without hesitation I said, "Write"

When I write my whole world turns into different colors, different shapes, it's as if I'm walking through a fairy tale world! The senses seem to come alive and I'm awake! Ready to take on the world. Writing allows me to escape into who I really am.

I have asked several people these two questions and very few - I'd be honest only two people out of the maybe 15 people I asked were able to give me answer immediately without any hesitation.

Most people had to sit and think about it. If you don't know what makes you come alive, then you're probably not living. Yes you're alive as in your heart is beating etc, etc, but you're not ALIVE with LIFE!!!! You're not on FIRE for the one thing you love to do.

Now I'm not dictating what should make you come alive, but I believe that something should. It is was makes us "complete" people. We don't want to be drones walking the face of this earth. We all should desire to have a purpose and work towards it everyday.

Passion is a trait of the human being, that, in my very short lifetime, I have observed is not very prevalent in our society today.

Everyone seems to be content with doing things with no heart! Now there is nothing wrong with getting up everyday and going to what others may call a "dead end" job. But if you do that job everyday passionately, trying to be the best at what you're doing right there - dead end job or not - then you're still living with passion and something is still making you "COME ALIVE".

We live without passion when we don't see that value and worth of what we're doing or when we don't strive for something that has value. Passion is what drives you to become a better you; a better writer; a better singer; a better musician; a better engineer.......

Sometimes all we need to make us come alive is the drive to just want to better than we were the day before. We shouldn't strive to be better than the person in the next cubicle. Our benchmark should be ourselves because in the end it will be something from within YOU that will make you come ALIVE.

Think about it!

Have a good one.
