The Night before Christmas

Christmas is drawing near - actually it's here! On Christmas Eve I will challenge you all to open your hearts to the true meaning of Christmas. Yesterday I finally put the last of my christmas lights. The house looked magnificant! I sat with my family outside admiring the hard work, and as always, we started to go down memory lane. We talked about all the different things we used to do in the house and my brother remarked - "You know the house hasn't changed much - we are the ones who have changed".

When he said that it brought to mind yesterday's meditation - "Let those who use this world not fix their abode in it, for the form of this world is passing away." (1 Cor 7:31)

Yes this world is passing and as each Christmas comes and goes we are reminded of all the things that change in our life.

With everything that is passing let's not forget that one thing should not change at Christmas time - our hearts open to the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. At Christmas time let Jesus "find our hearts clean and wide open to him when he comes to us again this Christmas night" (In Coversation with God - Francis Fernandez)
