The Best Month of the Year

For those of you who have been anticipating when I will recommence our little discussions and thoughts for a day, week or month; I wanted to give explain my absence.

FIFA WORLD CUP 2010

So although I cannot be ever accused of being a "football junky" I will let you know that every four years the world stops for the World Cup!

Thus far we have had quite a few surprises. If my money were on this world cup final, I would have lost quite a lot of money by now. We have been watching the Group stage and they have revealed to people like myself that the world stage is changing where football is concerned.

Regardless of USA's performance today I still believe that no team can win the FIFA (please correct if I forgot the "s") World Cup if they don't play Football. There isn't an international federation that plays Soccer. So if your team is called the Socceroos, or you play soccer back west, then the FIFA World Cup title could never be yours. So this is my plea to all the teams in the world that actually PLAY football ----- The team that got through today that plays Soccer, you need to "school!!" them in the game and send them back to the North Western Hemisphere!!! That means Germany, Spain, Brasil, Portugal, Argentina.......

We've seen Championship teams defeated by several underdogs; Spain, Germany and France have been humbled during these games. Some have said that "God does not sleep" - this is why France hasn't advanced to the next round. Some say the powerhouse teams are all "technically" sound - Spain- but don't have what it takes to win the cup.

Then there are the teams that we have felt pity for. From all corners of the world condolences were streaming in for North Korea. Losing a game 3-0 is very hard on a goal keeper; but losing a game 7 - 0 ...........

I would retire!

So we have a few more days before we know the final 16. The anticipation is raising as we wait the next few rounds to see who will be crowed the 2010 FIFA World Cup Champion.

For those of you not into World Cup - after July 11, 2010 the world will return to normal having crowned it's new champion - Spain :)
